Local version of valentine's day is a day of gift exchange, and to give a gift to someone important to you. Gifts like chocolates, flowers, soft toys, balloons. It's also a day to spend time with your important someone.
In some other places in the world [Japan, Korea, and i think Taiwan?] , Valentine's day is girls' exclusive. Gift is more or less chocolates only [cookies are ok i think?]. And they are divided into obligatory and serious. Obligatory is for ppl like ur close friends, ur boss / collegue. Serious chocolates are for people u love or given to express to feelings to someone u love. It's like a once-a-year war for girls where the whole economy will back the girls to gain courage to confess.
Then there is white day. 14th of March. one month later. Guys are suppose to return [not literally but give] chocolates [mandatory/serious] to whom they receive from. They have no excuses of forgetting coz stores will be publicizing it everywhere. As do whether guys confess on white day or valentine's day, i have no idea.
